MASALA EGG RICE


RECIPE:(serves 5)


INGREDIENTS:
3 cups boiled rice
1/2 tsp chili powder
3 medium finely chopped tomatoes
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
3 tbsp oil

FOR MASALA OMLETTE:
4 tsp oil
2 finely chopped green chilies
3 beaten eggs
salt to taste
3 tbsp finely chopped mint and coriander leaves
1 large finely chopped onion

METHOD:
Mix all the omlette ingredients except oil and beat the mixture well.
Heat oil in a pan, pour the egg mixture and make an omlette.
Fry both sides of omlette.
Roll up the omlette and cut it into small pieces.
Heat oil in a large saucepan.
Add tomatoes and fry on medium heat till tomatoes are cooked.
Add masala omlette, salt, chili powder, turmeric powder.
Mix well.
Add boiled rice.Stir and cover the pan .
Leave it on low heat for 3 to 5 minutes.

HEART SHAPED CHOCOLATE CAKE




RECIPE:

INGREDIENTS:
FOR CHOCOLATE WHIPPED CREAM:
1/2 cup whipping cream
1/4 tsp vanilla essence
28 grams icing sugar
3/4 tbsp cocoa powder
FOR ICING:
8 ounces chocolate (cut into small pieces)
3/4 cup whipping cream
2 tbsp unsalted butter

FOR CHOCOLATE CAKE:
3 large eggs, seperated
1 large egg white
1 cup powdered sugar(divided)
2/3 cups flour
1/3 cups plus 1 tbsp cocoa powder
1 1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 cup cooking oil
1/3 cup water
1 tsp vanilla essence
strawberries (as desirable)

METHOD:
FOR THE CHOCOLATE CAKE:
Preheat oven to350 degrees F/180 degrees C.
Butter and flour a 9-inch heart shaped cake pan with 2 inch/5 cm sides.
Seperate the eggs, placing the whites in one bowl and the yolks in another. To the whites, add the extra egg white. Keep aside until it comes to room temprature.
Meanwhile shift together 1/3 cup powdered sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
Whisk together the oil, water and vanilla extract.
Beat the egg yolks for a minute on high spreed.
Then on a low speed pour the oil mixture into the egg yolks until very well combined.
Gradually add the flour mixture and beat well.
In a seperate mixing bowl, beat teh egg whites until soft peaks form.
Gradually beat in the remaining 1/3 cup of sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
With a spatula, gently fold the egg whites into the batter until blended.
Pour the batter into the pan and bake for about 30 to 35 minutes.
Let it cool and remove the cake from the pan.
FOR CHOCOLATE WHIPPED CREAM:
In a bowl combine cream, vanilla essence, sugar and cocoa powder.
Cover and chill the bowl in the refrigrator for preferably an hour, so the cocoa powder has time to disolve.Beat the mixture until stiff peaks form.
FOR CHOCOLATE ICING:
Melt the chocolate and butter togetherover a double boiler.
Let it cool.
Now add the chocolate mixture in the whipping cream.
TO ASSEMBLE THE CAKE:
Now place the cake on a flat surface and cut it horizontally into two layers.
Turn over the top layer of the cake and spread with the chocolate whipped cream.
Place the second layer of the cake, cut side down, on the top of the chocolate cream, gently pressing it.
Place the cake in the refrigerator for several hours or even over night.
Before serving cover with icing and strawberries.

LEMON SHAKE-UPS




Lemon is a used widely fruit all over the world. Lemon is the common name of 'Citrus limon'. It is a source of Vitamin-C . The recipe given below is very easy and simple. Its prepartion time is hardly 10 minutes.
RECIPE:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • Ice as required
  • 16 ounces water
  • 1/2 lemon (medium)

METHOD

  • Pour sugar into a glass.
  • Pour enough water to cover the top of the sugar.
    Let sugar disintegrate for atleast 5 minutes.
  • Squeeze juice from 1/2 lemon into sugar water.
  • Fill the glass with water and ice.
  • Shake well.
  • Garnish it with with lemon on the top.

CHICKEN SALAD SANDWICH



RECIPE:(serves four)

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 pieces of shredded boiled chicken
  • salt as derirable
  • black pepper as desirable
  • 4 tbsp of finely chopped cabbage
  • 2.5 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • finely chopped lettuce leaves for garnishing
  • 8 white bread slices or bran bread slices
  • extra butter as required
METHOD:
  • Combine chicken,cabbage, butter, mayonnaise, black pepper and salt in a bowl and mix well.
  • Butter all slices of bread.
  • Spread the chicken mixture on four slices and cover them with the other four.
  • Cover it with the clean kitchen towel and keep in refrigerator till ready to serve.

CHILLI CHICKEN FRY RECIPE



RECIPE:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 500g boneless chicken
  • 1 egg
  • 1tbsp cornflour
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • salt (as required)
  • 7-9 green chillies
  • 1 tbs crushed ginger
  • oil for frying
  • 2 tbsp butter


RECIPE:

  • Cut boneless chicken in small cubes.
  • Add chili powder, turmeric powder and salt to chicken.
  • Mix corn flour and egg properly and chicken.
  • Now mix all the mixture.Marinate the mixture for 30 minutes.
  • In a pan heat the oil and deep fry chicken cubes until cooked.
  • Slice green chillies into half.
  • Heat another pan and melt the butter.
  • Now add sliced chillies and crushed ginger.
  • Fry for 2 minutes.
  • Add fried chicken pieces and fry under under medium flame for 5 minutes or until chicken pieces take up the flavour of chilly and ginger.
  • Garnish and serve hot.

GREEN CHUTNEY


Green chutney is easy to make. It can be served as accompaniments to chicken and rice dishes. It is also served with appetizers as a substitute of ketchup. Its preparation time is 10 minutes. the recipe is described below.

INGREDIENTS:


  • 1 cup of fresh coriander

  • salt (as required)

  • 1 large onion (sliced)

  • 2 tbsp water

  • 2-3 green chillies

  • 3 cloves garlic (chopped)

  • 1/2 inch pieces ginger

  • 1/2 cup tamarind juice

METHOD:



  • Combine all ingredients with 2tbsp of water.

  • Grind them to make a nice green chutney.

MIXED FRUIT SMOTHIE




Mixed fruit is a healthy drink from which you can quench your thirst and keeps you full. As all fruits are mixed in this drink so it gives a very good taste and pleasure. Its preparation time is 10 t0 15 minutes. The recipe is described below.

RECIPE:(SERVES 1)

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 Banana (chopped)

  • 1medium pear (chopped)

  • 15 almonds (blenched)

  • 2 cups milk (chilled)

  • 1\4 cup melon (chopped)

  • 4 tbsp yogurt

  • 4 tbsp strawberry jam

  • 1 cup crushed ice




METHOD:

  • Mix all the ingredients and blend it till smooth.

  • Now add melon, yogurt, strawberry jam and blend them again till smooth.

  • Add crushed ice in it and once again blend it.

  • Your mixed fruit smoothie is ready and now serve it in a nice stem glass.

STRAWBERRY SHAKE


Strawberry shake is one of the easiest and quickest drink to make. As people from all over the world like strawbwrries, so every dish or drink including strawberries is famous among the people. The preparation time is only 10 minutes. The recipe of strawberry shake is described below.


RECIPE:(seves 1)

INGREDIENTS:



  • 2 cups of milk

  • 2 tbsp honey

  • 1 tsp vanilla or strawberry extract(ice-cream)

  • 1 cup of frozen strawberries

METHOD:



  • Mix all the ingredients in a blender.

  • Blend until the mixture is smooth.

  • Pour into glasses.

  • Garnish it with small pieces of strawberry and cream.

  • Now serve the chilled strawberry shake.

MINT AND LEMON CHICKEN CUTLETS


Mint and lemon chicken cutlets are really easy to cook. It takes 40 minutes to prepare it and 15 minutes to cook it. The recipe is described below.


RECIPE:(serves 4 to 6)


INGREDIENTS:


  • 1\2 kg chicken mince meat

  • 3 tbsp lemon juice

  • 6 green chillies (chopped)

  • 3 tbsp mint and coriander leaves

  • 1 tsp chili powder

  • 1\2 tsp garam masala

  • Salt (to taste)

  • Oil (for shallow frying)

METHOD:



  • Mix the minced chicken meat with all the ingredients except oil.

  • Marinate the whole mixture for 40 minutes.

  • Make round or oval cutlets from the mixture.

  • Heat the oil and fry on low heat until it becomes golden brown from both the sides.

  • Serve with tomato ketchup or green chutney.

BARBECUE CHEESE TOAST



Barbecue cheese toast is a yummy snack which can be served with tea and drinks. This snack can be described as cheese on toast. The recipie is decribed below.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Chicken tikkas from breast pieces 2
  • Bread or bun 8
  • Cheddar cheese, grated 4 tbsp
  • Capsicum, chopped into small Bulleted Listsquare pieces 1 large
  • Butter as required

METHOD:

  • Cut buns into halves an butter them.
  • Put chicken tikka pieces, capsicum and grated cheese on one half.
  • Grill the buns till the cheese melts.
  • Serve hot with tea or any kind of drink.

FOOD

What is food? Food is something that is composed of protiens, carbohydrates, fats and water which is eaten and drunk for nutrition or pleasure. Every country has its own culture and traditions so food of every country varies from one country to another. However foods of other countries may be cooked in a country. For example,in Pakistan (Halal) foods of other countries are also cooked.




There may be two sources of food that are plants and animals. They can be used as foof in raw form(uncooked) or may be cooked.



Many plants or their parts are eaten as food. There are about 2000 plant species which are cultivated as a food. Vegetables are a type of plant matter that are used as a source of food. These include root vegetables, leaf vegetables and inflorescence vegetables. The other type are fruits and seeds of a plant. Seeds of plant are good source of food. Examples include wheat, rice, beans, peas and nuts. Fruits are a good source of protiens,vitamins etc. They are essential for the diet of most cultures as well as for Pakistani culture.


Animals are also used as a source of food. They are used in it directly or indirectly in the food. Examples of directly used is mutton or chicken meat and fish. Examples of indirectly used are dairy products such as milk, butter, cheese and eggs.
